The 5 best dance studios in Liverpool to get your groove on

  • Qualifications and experience: I examined the credentials and achievements of the studio’s principal and instructors. The more experience and training they have, the better.
  • Diversity of dance styles: I reviewed the studio's dance variety offerings and included those with the most styles, like ballet, hip-hop, and salsa.
  • Facility and atmosphere: I visited the studio’s physical space to see if it has spacious facilities with sturdy, well-maintained dance floors. I also chose studios with positive energy and a supportive, nurturing environment.
  • Costs: I reviewed the pricing. Studios with high rates weren’t automatically ruled out. Instead, I considered whether the prices and service quality were reasonable.
  • Reviews and recommendations: I extensively researched client reviews, looking for positive and negative feedback. I also sought suggestions from family and friends.

My friend Lucy recently discovered a new hobby: dancing! Since she’s new to Liverpool’s dance scene, she asked for a studio recommendation. She wanted a place where she could truly enjoy the experience—with great instructors and enough space to move freely.

Good thing I’ve taken a few dance classes myself, so I know my way around the city’s studios. And if you’re here, chances are you’re also looking for one.

Well, I’m confident my recommendations won’t disappoint—these are the best dance studios in Liverpool, backed by my research and honest reviews.

Check out the list!

How much does it cost to join dance classes at a studio in Liverpool?

It costs at least £3 to join dance classes at a studio in Liverpool. However, the fees depend on the facility, the type of dance class enrolled in, and other factors like the time of day and the instructor’s experience.

I’ve only heard great things about Dance Passion, especially their facilities and class quality. I visited a few times and saw how big and well-kept their lounges, studios, and changing rooms were.

I also noticed how skilled, patient, and supportive the instructors were in their dance styles. I really appreciate that they know their stuff and keep classes structured.

When it comes to the classes, Dance Passion specialise in Latin and ballroom dancing, lyrical and commercial dance, and Zumba acrobatics. However, the limited dance styles were disappointing because they don’t cater to other niche dance forms.

Aside from that, their classes are expensive, which isn’t really for those on a tighter budget.

The upside? Dance Passion offers classes for all levels, from beginners to pros looking to improve. And you can rest assured you’re in good hands because Clare Williams, a seasoned dancer and adjudicator, supervises these classes.

Pros

  • Big and well-kept facilities
  • Skilled and supportive instructors
  • Offers classes for all levels

Cons

  • Expensive classes
  • Limited dance styles

Professional and friendly instructors

“I booked Dance Passion for a hen party for the bride as she is passionate about dancing. Natalie and Joshua attended and put on a performance which was marvellous, such much skill and energy! They then taught a room full of people salsa steps which everyone loved especially the bride who then completed a dance routine with Joshua. Super professional and friendly. Would highly recommend!”

Welcoming and knowledgeable instructors

“Excellent classes for all abilities. Everyone is lovely and the classes are a perfect mix of learning new steps and learning techniques. Never been a problem that I don’t have a partner, there’s always someone to dance with or alongside. Instructors all incredible – welcoming, knowledgeable, patient and friendly. Would recommend to anyone wanting to learn, return or continue dancing!”

I’ll admit the street dance class drew me to Chiltern Dance Studio. But trust me, Chiltern is more than street dance. They also specialise in ballet, tap, and modern dance. Even better, they offer ballet classes for babies, earning a five-out-of-five rating from moms.

The studio features modern facilities and a rotating cast of instructors, so you can expect expertise, energy, and excitement in every class.

I also like that they offer a free taster class. You can choose your preferred dance style, schedule a free class, and try it out. This allows you to experience a session without financial obligation, which is fantastic.

Besides that, the Chiltern Dance Studio has a dance and merchandise store. You can find everything you’ll need for your classes, including ballet shoes and foot thongs.

The only drawback was the slow process of getting approved for a class. My friend tried enrolling herself on ballet class but was only approved after a week, which is quite frustrating.

Pros

  • Rotating cast of instructors
  • Offers a variety of dance styles
  • Offers a free class trial
  • Has a dance and merchandise store

Cons

  • Slow class approval process

A fantastic and welcoming school

“Chiltern Dance Studio is an amazing dance school for all ages. It is a very welcoming place to be with fantastic staff and welcoming pupils. I would personally recommend Chitern Dance Studio as a dance school to go.”

I’ve included Love to Dance in this list because of their various dance classes. They offer ballroom, ballet, contemporary, and other styles. Many students have also mentioned that their classes are enriching and worth it.

I appreciate that they also offer trial classes starting at £7, so you can find the right style, whether trying something new or figuring out what you enjoy.

What I like most about Love to Dance is that they host dance events. I particularly look forward to the dance competitions they occasionally organise. However, these events are only held monthly—sometimes every two to three months.

Apart from that, their dance facilities (Studio 1 and Studio 2) are available for rent. Dance crews and competition teams love it because the studios are spacious, well-lit, and very private. Plus, the pricing is reasonable, starting at £15 an hour for Studio 1.

However, the problem with Love to Dance is that their schedule gets packed rather quickly. So, booking a spot can sometimes be frustrating.

Pros

  • Offers various dance styles
  • Offers trial classes
  • Hosts various events monthly
  • Studios are available for rent

Cons

  • Hard to secure a slot

Professional, patient, and highly supportive

Laura is very professional in her teaching. She is very patient and extremely supportive whilst teaching me to dance the waltz. I have learnt such a lot in a short period of time. The venue is very warm and welcoming lovely sprung dance floor. Would highly recommend if you would like to learn to dance.

Friendly and experienced staff

“Fabulous studio! Friendly and knowledgeable staff with lots of experience in competitive and social dancing. Highly recommended. Beginners to competitors catered for. Adults and children.”

Adam Brown Dance Company—or simply ABDC—has accomplished so much in such a short time. In the 7 years since its founding, the dance school has headlined the Blacon Festival, opened for Mercedes Benz UK, and supported the Disney Cruise Line.

With that in mind, I wasn’t surprised when I learned about the company’s principal, Adam Brown. The man has dancing in his DNA, having started at age three and making a living out of his craft. In short, he’s one of the best, and ABDC’s classes reflect this lofty standing.

It’s also great that ABDC covers diverse dance styles, from ballroom to modern and everything in between. That means there’s a wide variety of dance styles to choose from, like an all-you-can-dance menu.

However, their pricing is high. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly dance class, this studio may not be the best.

Pros

  • 7 years in the industry
  • Experienced principal with formal training
  • Covers various dance styles
  • Top-notch facility

Cons

  • High pricing

Dedicated and hardworking teacher

“Adam is without doubt one of the most dedicated and hard working teachers I know. Studios are absolutely pristine and Adam is constantly giving the kids every opportunity to get involved in all sorts of opportunities. No one in Liverpool I would recommend more.”

– Enya Torres, Google Review

Most professional dance school

“I take my 2 cousins here and it is the most professional dance school they have been to. If your child is looking for a hobby or a career in the industry Adam and his team fit around both of these. The girls love it and along with the wide selection of shows, festivals, corporate events and much more. Team ABDC!”

If you have kids, take them to Star Spirit. I’d say they’re the best at honing young dance talent and have the achievements to prove it. Most impressively, Star Spirit dancers represented the UK at the USASF Dance Worlds 14 times—yes, 14 times! Can you believe that?

I already love that they offer jazz, pom, and contemporary lyrical dances. But what makes it even better is their cheerleading program, which is open to students ages 6 to 25. Students have shared that it’s an excellent class for skill improvement and fitness.

Aside from that, I particularly love Star Spirit’s open gym sessions. Here, everyone is encouraged to explore their skills, be it tumbling, doing stunts, or dancing. These open sessions are like freestyling in a facility with mats, spring floors, and a dance studio.

But the nitpicker in me is disappointed that they cater to a younger demographic only. I would’ve loved to experience the communal vibes of their classes.

Pros

  • Experienced instructors
  • Offers cheerleading program
  • Open gym sessions

Cons

  • Caters to younger dancers only (3-25 years old)

Fantastic and easy-to-approach coaches

“My daughter loves Star Spirit. She’s grown in confidence and loves dance and cheer. The coaches are fantastic with the kids, it’s them who make this place work and they are so easy to approach to ask for information, no matter how busy they are. All in all I would recommend Star Spirit.”

– AllyLibby Moore, Google Review

Supportive staff

“Highly recommend Star spirit cheer and dance. My daughter wanted to try tumbling and when I found these she couldn’t wait to start. That was when I have been able to watch her grow and develop new skills not just in dance and cheer but also in friendships and commitment. Staff are all really supportive I couldn’t ask for more as a parent and my daughter loves going to her lessons, Star Spirit is her happy place.”
